Our
Services

Surgery

In oncology, surgery involves physically removing the tumor and, sometimes, nearby tissues or lymph nodes to eliminate cancer from the body. It is often the first line of treatment for many solid tumors.

./assets/ourServices/popup/chemotherapy.png

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy uses powerful drugs to kill rapidly dividing cancer cells throughout the body. It can be used alone or in combination with other treatments to reduce the risk of cancer returning or to shrink tumors before surgery.

./assets/ourServices/popup/radiationTherapy.png

Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy uses high-energy radiation to damage the DNA of cancer cells, causing them to die or stop dividing. It can be used as a primary treatment or to shrink tumors before surgery and kill remaining cancer cells afterward.

FAQs

What is a hysterectomy, and why is it performed?

A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, and in some cases, the cervix, ovaries, and fallopian tubes may also be removed. It is performed to treat a range of conditions, including uterine fibroids, endometriosis, abnormal bleeding, chronic pelvic pain, and certain cancers.

How is a hysterectomy performed?

There are three main approaches to performing a hysterectomy: Abdominal hysterectomy is done through a large incision in the abdomen. Vaginal hysterectomy is performed through the vagina, without making an abdominal incision. Laparoscopic or robotic hysterectomy is a minimally invasive approach that uses small incisions and specialized tools to remove the uterus.

What is the recovery time after a hysterectomy?

Recovery times vary depending on the type of hysterectomy. An abdominal hysterectomy typically requires 6 to 8 weeks of recovery. A vaginal or laparoscopic hysterectomy usually requires a shorter recovery time of 2 to 4 weeks. During recovery, it is important to avoid heavy lifting and other strenuous activities.

Will I experience menopause after a hysterectomy?

If your ovaries are removed during the hysterectomy (a procedure called oophorectomy), you will experience surgical menopause, which means your body will stop producing certain hormones, leading to menopause symptoms. If your ovaries are left intact, you will not enter menopause immediately, but it may occur earlier than normal.

Are there any risks associated with hysterectomy?

As with any surgery, there are risks associated with a hysterectomy. These include infection, excessive bleeding, blood clots, injury to nearby organs, and complications from anesthesia. Your doctor will discuss these risks with you, taking into account your individual situation.

Will a hysterectomy affect my hormone levels?

If your ovaries are removed during the hysterectomy, your body will no longer produce estrogen and progesterone, which can lead to menopause symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) may be an option to help manage these symptoms.

Can I still have children after a hysterectomy?

No, after a hysterectomy, you will no longer have a uterus, which means you cannot become pregnant. If fertility is important to you, you should discuss other treatment options with your doctor before deciding to have a hysterectomy.

How do I prepare for a hysterectomy?

Before surgery, your doctor may recommend certain steps to prepare, such as quitting smoking, avoiding certain medications (like blood thinners), and following preoperative instructions regarding fasting and hygiene. Your healthcare team will provide you with specific guidelines tailored to your needs.
