  • Tips for coping with Pandemic and Cancer stress

  • 10 August, 2021

It is nerve-wracking to see the traumatic events and the repercussions that the pandemic is giving birth to. Stress has become like an elephant in the room and it is affecting everyone to an indelible degree.
It is further tormenting for people affected with cancer and the amount of stress accumulating is disheartening. Stress does not cause cancer, but chronic stress may weaken the immune system and cause other health problems.

Silver bullets that would definitely make you feel upbeat!

Eat well

Eating a well-balanced and healthy diet with nutrient-dense foods gives the energy to sweep out stress.

Exercise

Regular exercise reduces stress hormones and produces happy hormones that enhance your overall well-being.

Connect with others

With the social distancing norms, you can either make a phone call or do a video call to your buddies. Socializing with people swaps any gloomy day to a delightful day.

Find comfort in religion or spirituality

Being part of religious or spiritual groups and attending their events helps to alleviate stress and anxiety.

Restrict news consumption

The negative news from the media is like the perennial flow of water in a river. Keep yourself abreast about the happenings, but don’t hover over with contemplation by spending unending hours.

Don't squeeze everything into your schedule

It’s okay to say no to things when you have no time, energy, or interest. You should not overburden yourself by putting too many things on your plate.

Engage in hobbies

Hobbies refresh and relax your mind. Allot a specific time slot for your pastimes, because they bring joy and humor to your life.

Reorganize

Clear the clutter around you and rearrange things that are in shambles.

Ask people for help

Your near and dear ones would be pleased to help you with your errands. For instance, you can ask them to do your grocery shopping or pick your child from school.

Sleep schedule

Adequate sleep is requisite for a healthy life. Ensure that you get seven or more hours of sleep each day. You can take short naps in the morning to feel rejuvenated.

Journaling

Writing down your feelings, past events, sorrows, and happiness has a surprisingly calming effect on you. Specifically, gratitude journaling helps you to reduce stress and stay motivated.

Meditation and mild stretching

Meditation improves self-awareness, and self-esteem, and lowers stress and anxiety. Mild stretching from time to time during the day increases blood circulation.

Have “Me-Time”

Listen to music or read a book. Take a casual stroll and let the sun rays energize you, the breeze enliven you, and nature sounds invigorate you.

Trust your body! We are sure that you will maneuver through the maze of life throwing troubles. Research suggests that 44% of people with cancer symptoms have delayed their diagnosis appointment due to the pandemic. The more you delay, the more prone you become to catching the infections.

Save yourself from repeated hospital visits and book online onco consultations and follow-ups. With the best doctors seeing you, stay assured about your health. Sit back and relax, win the uphill battle with Cancer Clinics!
