The Cancer Specialists who would treat you
Grouped by what they actually do, with years in practice. Your case goes in front of the relevant specialties together rather than to one of them alone. Tap any name to open that specialist’s own page, or see all of them together on the Top Cancer Doctors in Hyderabad page.

Which of them should see you first?
“Oncologist” is one word for 4 different jobs, and seeing the wrong one first costs you a fortnight. Pick the line that matches where you are.
Bring the plan you already have
If treatment has started elsewhere, the useful first step is a written Second Opinion rather than starting again. That is free here.
Bring the record of how many cycles you have had and on what dates. Without it a new team works from half the picture, and gaps between cycles matter.
This is general guidance and not a diagnosis. If you are unsure, call and describe what you have been told — the coach will route you rather than asking you to choose.

The first visit
What the free cancer consultation actually includes
No referral letter, no charge, and no obligation to start treatment with us.

Your existing scans and pathology get read

You are told which specialties are involved

An indicative estimate for the whole course
A specialist reads what you already have
Your existing scans and pathology get read rather than repeated. A recent, technically adequate scan is one we can work from.
You get told which specialties are involved
Which parts happen where, roughly how long the course runs, and who your point of contact is between visits.
An indicative estimate for the whole course
Not for one procedure. The scheme desk also checks Aarogyasri or Dr NTR Vaidya Seva eligibility at the same visit.
- Biopsy or pathology report, if you have one
- Scan films and CDs, in the original
- Blood test reports and discharge summaries
- A list of medicines you are currently taking
- If treatment has started elsewhere, the record of cycles and dates
How to judge a panel
What those letters after a name actually mean
Worth knowing before you compare us with anyone else. Only some of these are cancer super-specialisations, and no directory in the city explains which.
| Shown as | What it stands for | Cancer super-specialisation? |
|---|---|---|
| DM | Doctorate of Medicine, taken after MD by national exam | Yes — Medical Oncology |
| DrNB | Diplomate of National Board, 3-year super-specialisation | Yes — Surgical Oncology |
| M.Ch. | Magister Chirurgiae, surgical super-specialisation after MS | Yes — Surgical Oncology |
| MRCP SCE | UK Specialty Certificate Exam in Medical Oncology | Yes — Medical Oncology |
| ECMO | European Certificate in Medical Oncology, ESMO exam | Yes — Medical Oncology |
| MD | Doctor of Medicine, a postgraduate degree in a chosen subject | Only if the subject is Radiation Oncology |
| MS | Master of Surgery, a postgraduate surgical degree | Not on its own |
| MBBS | The base medical degree every doctor holds | No |
Fellowships appear too, written as FMAS, FARIS or FICS. A fellowship is additional training rather than a degree, and it is worth asking what it was in.
Before you book
Questions people ask when they call
Everything that comes up on the phone, answered here so you do not have to ask twice.
Is the first consultation really free?
Yes. The first specialist consultation is free and no referral letter is needed. Bring whatever reports you already have.
If the cost of treatment itself is a barrier, say so at that visit. Financial counselling works far better before treatment starts than halfway through.
Is there a waiting list to see an Oncologist?
No. There is no waiting list, and you see a specialist on your first visit rather than a junior doctor first.
Call and say what you have been told so far. Urgent cases are slotted the same day where the diagnosis calls for it.
Which Oncologist should I see first?
Use the selector above, or simply describe the diagnosis on the phone. A lump that looks operable usually starts with Surgical Oncology. A cancer that has spread usually starts with Medical Oncology, and a blood cancer starts with Haematology.
Do you charge for a Second Opinion?
No. A written Second Opinion is free. Bring your pathology report, scan films and the treatment plan you have been given.
You are not committing to treatment here by asking, and you do not need to leave your current doctor.
Will I see the same Oncologist at every visit?
Your treating specialist stays the same through a course. Other specialties join for the parts they handle, which is how a panelled plan works.
Can I ask for a female Oncologist?
Yes. Say so when you book and we will arrange it where a female specialist is available at that centre.
Do I have to repeat scans done elsewhere?
Not usually. A recent, technically adequate scan gets read rather than redone. If a repeat is genuinely needed, you will be told the clinical reason.
Is Aarogyasri accepted?
Eligible cancer treatment is covered under Aarogyasri in Telangana and Dr NTR Vaidya Seva in Andhra Pradesh. Eligibility depends on your documents, so have them checked at the scheme desk.
Tell us the diagnosis. We will book the right specialist.
Give us your name and number. A Cancer coach will call and ask what you have been told so far. You get booked with the right specialty, not the first available one.
