Looking for clear information on endoscopic biopsy cost in Hyderabad? In an endoscopic biopsy, a thin, flexible tube with a camera is passed into the body so the doctor can see a suspicious area on a screen and take a sample through the scope. It is the usual way to biopsy the food pipe, stomach, bowel and airways. CION does not perform endoscopic biopsies in-house — they are done by partner gastroenterology / pulmonology teams; CION helps you arrange one and reviews the results in an oncology context. Your first consultation is free.
Indicative market range: ₹3,500–9,000, billed by the centre performing it; histopathology separate. This is an external market estimate, not a CION price — the exact figure is set by the gastroenterology / pulmonology centre that performs the procedure, and the histopathology report is a separate fee.
An endoscopic biopsy is advised when there are symptoms or a lesion in the gastrointestinal tract — the food pipe, stomach, duodenum, colon or rectum — or in the airways, and to check or monitor known conditions. The big advantage is that the doctor can both see and sample the area in a single procedure, usually with sedation, as a day-care test.

An endoscopic biopsy lets the doctor both see and sample a lesion in one procedure — for example during a gastroscopy, colonoscopy or bronchoscopy — which is why it is the standard approach for the gut and airways.
An endoscopic biopsy has two parts: the scope procedure to view and collect the sample (which usually includes sedation), and the laboratory examination of that sample by a pathologist. The quoted procedure price covers the scope and sedation; the histopathology report is a separate fee, and special tests — such as immunohistochemistry (IHC) or molecular testing — add to it. We explain which tests apply to you before you commit, so there are no surprises.

You will usually be asked to fast for a few hours; a colonoscopy also needs bowel preparation (a cleansing regimen) the day before. You may be asked to pause blood thinners or anticoagulants, only as directed by your doctor. Most endoscopic biopsies are done under sedation, so you are comfortable and remember little of the procedure.
The procedure itself is usually short. Afterwards you rest while the sedation wears off, and you will need someone to take you home. Mild bloating or a sore throat can occur briefly, depending on the type of scope.
A histopathology report usually takes about 3–7 working days. At CION, the result is reviewed by a tumour board and explained to you with a clear next step, and you are welcome to a free written second opinion on an outside report.
Endoscopic biopsy is the standard way to diagnose cancers of the food pipe, stomach and bowel, and to sample lung and mediastinal lesions. If your biopsy raises a concern, CION's oncology team can guide the next step. To understand how a tissue diagnosis confirms cancer, see the wider types of biopsy, and for chest and airway sampling read lung biopsy.
This page is for general information only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Biopsy prices shown are indicative and may vary by type, site, image guidance and the pathology testing required — histopathology and any special tests (such as IHC or molecular testing) are usually charged separately. Always follow the advice of a qualified doctor regarding whether a biopsy is needed and how to interpret the results.

It depends on the procedure — gastroscopy, colonoscopy, or bronchoscopy/EBUS — and usually includes sedation; the laboratory work is separate. Endoscopic biopsies are not done at CION, so the price is set by the gastroenterology / pulmonology centre that performs it (an indicative market range is around ₹3,500–9,000, histopathology separate). CION can help you understand the procedure and coordinate a referral, and the first consultation is free.
The main ones are upper GI endoscopy (gastroscopy) for the food pipe and stomach, colonoscopy for the colon and rectum, bronchoscopy/EBUS for the airways and chest lymph nodes, and EUS for deeper targets such as the pancreas.
Most endoscopic biopsies are done under sedation, and you will usually be asked to fast for a few hours beforehand. Follow the specific instructions from your care team.
It is generally not painful because it is done under sedation. You may have mild bloating or a brief sore throat afterwards, depending on the scope.
A cleansing regimen the day before empties the bowel so the lining can be seen clearly and any lesion sampled accurately.
A histopathology report usually takes about 3-7 working days. Results are reviewed by a tumour board and explained with the next step.
Yes — it is the standard way to diagnose cancers of the food pipe, stomach and bowel, and to sample lung and chest lesions. A sample is examined to give a definite answer.
