Looking for clear information on liquid biopsy cost in Hyderabad? A liquid biopsy is a blood test that looks for fragments of tumour DNA (called ctDNA) and other markers a cancer sheds into the bloodstream. It is non-invasive and useful in specific situations — but it is used alongside, not instead of, a tissue biopsy. At CION Cancer Clinics, a liquid biopsy is recommended and interpreted by an oncologist and reviewed by a tumour board. Your first consultation is free.
Starting from ₹18,000
There is no single price for a liquid biopsy — it depends mainly on how many genes are analysed and the laboratory used. A single-gene or focused panel costs less than a comprehensive NGS panel. The table below is an indicative guide; your exact, confirmed price is shared once your reports are reviewed. A liquid biopsy is not a substitute for a tissue biopsy.
| Liquid biopsy | Starting price |
|---|---|
| Liquid biopsy — single gene / focused panel | ₹18,000–25,000 |
| Liquid biopsy — comprehensive NGS panel | ₹35,000–37,000 |
Prices shown are indicative and may vary by site, image guidance and the pathology testing required. Histopathology and any special tests (IHC / molecular) are charged separately unless stated.
A liquid biopsy usually cannot confirm a brand-new cancer diagnosis on its own. A tissue biopsy — examining an actual sample of the tumour — remains the definitive first step. A liquid biopsy is most valuable as a complement to tissue: for molecular profiling, monitoring and detecting recurrence. If you are at the diagnosis stage, start with biopsy for cancer diagnosis, which explains why tissue is definitive. For pricing across all techniques, see Biopsy Cost in Hyderabad.
When a tumour grows, it releases tiny amounts of DNA and sometimes whole cells into the blood. A liquid biopsy detects and analyses these from a simple blood draw. It can reveal molecular changes that guide treatment, and it can be repeated easily to track how a cancer is responding — things a one-time tissue biopsy cannot do as conveniently.
A liquid biopsy can profile a tumour from a single blood draw, but — as cancer specialists emphasise — it does not replace a tissue biopsy for making a new diagnosis. The two are complementary, and your oncologist decides when a liquid biopsy adds value.

A tissue biopsy gives the definitive diagnosis, the exact type, and tests such as IHC — it is the foundation. A liquid biopsy is a non-invasive molecular snapshot that is easy to repeat, which makes it well suited to monitoring and to finding treatment targets. They answer different questions, and are often used together.
| Tissue biopsy | Liquid biopsy | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A sample of the tumour itself | A blood test for tumour DNA (ctDNA) |
| Confirms a new diagnosis? | Yes — definitive | Usually no — complements tissue |
| Easy to repeat? | Invasive; not done often | A simple blood draw; easy to repeat |
| Best used for | Diagnosis, type and IHC | Molecular profiling, monitoring, recurrence |
It is most often considered for people with an advanced solid tumour who need molecular profiling, for monitoring during or after treatment, or when obtaining tissue is difficult. Your oncologist will advise whether it adds value in your situation.
Results from a comprehensive panel typically take about one to two weeks. They are interpreted by an oncologist alongside your imaging and tissue findings, and reviewed by a tumour board to decide the next step.
Used in the right situation, a liquid biopsy adds a convenient, repeatable layer of molecular information to cancer care — while a tissue biopsy remains the definitive way to diagnose cancer in the first place. Your oncologist decides when it adds value, and interprets it alongside your imaging and tissue findings.

It is a blood test that detects fragments of tumour DNA (ctDNA) and other markers shed by a cancer into the blood, and analyses them for molecular information that can guide treatment or monitoring.
Usually no. A tissue biopsy remains the definitive way to diagnose a new cancer. A liquid biopsy complements it — for molecular profiling, monitoring response and detecting recurrence.
It can find targetable molecular changes, monitor response to treatment, and help detect recurrence or residual disease. It can also be an option when tissue is hard to obtain.
It is not a routine screening test for healthy people. Multi-cancer early-detection testing is a separate, emerging area that should be discussed with a specialist.
Results from a comprehensive panel typically take about one to two weeks, and are interpreted by an oncologist and reviewed by a tumour board.
It is useful but not perfect — it can be less sensitive in early cancers that shed little DNA, and can occasionally give false results, which is why it is interpreted alongside tissue and imaging.
