Looking for clear, upfront CT chest cost in Hyderabad? A chest CT — also called a CT thorax — produces detailed cross-sectional images of your lungs, airways, pleura and the structures inside the chest. CION arranges your chest CT at a vetted partner imaging centre, shares an indicative price before you book, and has oncology specialists on hand to read it in the right clinical context. A chest CT looks in detail at the lungs and airways, the pleura (the lining around the lungs), the mediastinum (the central area containing the heart, major vessels and lymph nodes), the chest wall and the ribs. Doctors order it to investigate symptoms such as a persistent cough or breathlessness, to follow up an abnormal chest X-ray or a lung nodule, to assess infections and long-term lung disease, and to help detect and stage lung cancer.
In Hyderabad, chest CT and HRCT are widely available, but prices and reporting quality differ between centres and localities. CION Cancer Clinics arranges imaging across Hyderabad — at vetted partner centres in Himayat Nagar, Panjagutta, Dilsukhnagar, Film Nagar and Habsiguda — supported by 35+ partner centres across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. We help you arrange the chest CT your doctor has advised at a vetted partner centre near you, share an indicative price before you book, and — because we are an oncology network — make sure any concerning lung findings can be reviewed by a cancer specialist.
An HRCT chest can reveal subtle changes in lung tissue that a standard chest X-ray often misses. According to RadiologyInfo.org (RSNA and the American College of Radiology), this fine detail is why HRCT is central to diagnosing and monitoring many lung conditions.
There is no single price for a chest CT — what you pay depends mainly on the type of study and whether contrast is used, as well as the scanner and the centre. The table below is an indicative guide for the common chest scans, with prices rounded to the nearest ₹100. Your exact, confirmed price is shared once your prescription is reviewed.
| Chest CT type | Indicative price |
|---|---|
| CT Chest / Thorax — plain (NCCT) | ₹4,000 |
| HRCT Chest (high-resolution) | On request* |
| CT Chest with contrast (CECT) | On request* |
| CT Pulmonary Angiography (CTPA) | ₹9,800 |
| CT Virtual Bronchoscopy | ₹5,800 |
All prices are indicative and may vary by centre, protocol and use of contrast. *Confirmed once we review your prescription.
Both are CT scans of the chest, but they are set up differently:

A chest CT or HRCT may be advised to:
Contrast is a non-radioactive, iodine-based dye given through a vein to make blood vessels and certain tissues stand out. In the chest it is used to look more closely at the mediastinum, lymph nodes or a suspected mass, and for staging. A CT pulmonary angiogram (CTPA) is a specific contrast study used mainly to check for clots in the lung arteries. Before a contrast scan, the team will check your kidney function and ask about allergies; tell them if you have had a reaction to contrast before.
A chest CT is one of the most useful tests for finding and measuring lung nodules and for assessing whether a lung cancer has spread. In people at high risk, low-dose CT (LDCT) is also used as a screening tool to look for early lung cancer before symptoms appear.
It is important to understand the limits, though: a CT can show a suspicious nodule or mass, but it cannot by itself confirm whether it is cancer. A biopsy is needed for a definite diagnosis, and a PET-CT is often added to stage the disease accurately. If your chest CT raises any concern, CION's oncology team can guide you on the right next step.

A chest CT uses a small, controlled dose of radiation, and low-dose (LDCT) protocols reduce it further. For the vast majority of people, the value of an accurate diagnosis far outweighs the small risk, and scans are operated to keep the dose as low as reasonably achievable, in line with radiation-safety norms set by the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) in India. A chest CT is recommended only when it will genuinely help your care.

Start Your Story. Book Free Consultation. It depends on the exact study — a plain CT chest, a high-resolution HRCT, a contrast (CECT) chest scan, or a CT pulmonary angiogram — as well as the scanner and the centre. Because of this, prices differ from one scan and centre to another. CION shares an indicative price upfront once your prescription is reviewed.
An HRCT (high-resolution CT) uses very thin image slices and special settings focused on lung tissue, giving much finer detail of the lungs than a routine chest CT. It is usually done without contrast. A routine chest CT uses thicker slices, covers the chest more broadly, and often uses contrast to assess the mediastinum, blood vessels or a suspected mass. Your doctor decides which one you need.
Not always. A plain or HRCT chest scan uses X-rays alone. Contrast — a non-radioactive, iodine-based dye given by injection — is added when the doctor needs to see blood vessels, characterise a mass, or stage a cancer. A CT pulmonary angiogram (CTPA) is a contrast study used mainly to look for clots in the lung arteries.
A chest CT is very good at finding and measuring lung nodules and suspicious areas, and is widely used in lung-cancer staging. However, a scan alone cannot confirm cancer — a biopsy is needed for a definite diagnosis, and a PET-CT is often added for staging. If a chest CT raises concern, our oncology team can guide the next steps.
A chest X-ray is a single, quick image and is often the first test. A chest CT builds detailed cross-sectional images and can reveal subtle changes — small nodules, early lung disease — that an X-ray may miss. A CT is usually ordered when an X-ray is unclear or more detail is needed.
A chest CT uses a small, controlled dose of radiation, and low-dose CT (LDCT) protocols reduce it further. For most people the benefit of an accurate diagnosis far outweighs the small risk, and doses are kept as low as reasonably achievable in line with AERB guidance. Tell your doctor if you are, or might be, pregnant.
For a plain or HRCT chest scan you usually do not need to fast. For a contrast (CECT) scan or a CTPA, you may be asked not to eat for a few hours beforehand. Follow the instructions you are given when you book.
Plain and HRCT reports are often ready within a few hours to 24 hours. Contrast studies may take a little longer, depending on the centre.
Yes. A chest CT is a prescribed investigation, so you will need a referral or prescription. If you have been advised a chest CT and are unsure which type, our team can help and offer a free written second opinion.
