Looking for clear, upfront MRI scan cost in Hyderabad? An MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves — no X-rays and no radiation — to produce highly detailed images of the soft tissues, organs, joints, brain and spine. What you pay depends mainly on the body part scanned, whether contrast is used, and the type of machine. CION arranges your scan at a vetted partner imaging centre, shares an indicative price before you book, and has oncology specialists on hand to read it in the right clinical context. MRI is the test of choice when doctors need a detailed look at soft tissues that other scans show less clearly — the brain and spinal cord, joints and ligaments, the liver, and the pelvic organs — and it is widely used to detect, characterise and stage many cancers. Because it uses no ionising radiation, it is also preferred where scans may need to be repeated.
In Hyderabad, MRI is available across many centres, and prices vary by body part, contrast and machine. CION operates centres across Hyderabad, supported by a wider network of 35+ partner centres across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. We arrange the MRI your doctor has advised at a vetted partner centre near you, share an indicative price before you book, and — because we are an oncology network — make sure any concerning findings can be reviewed by a cancer specialist.
MRI uses no ionising radiation and gives the best soft-tissue contrast of any imaging test. According to RadiologyInfo.org (RSNA and the American College of Radiology), this makes it the preferred scan for the brain, spinal cord, joints and many soft-tissue cancers.
There is no single price for an MRI — it depends mainly on the area scanned and whether a contrast study is needed. The table below is an indicative guide for common MRI scans, with prices rounded to the nearest ₹100. Your exact, confirmed price is shared once your prescription is reviewed — so there are no surprises.

MRI can image almost any part of the body. The most commonly requested scans in Hyderabad include:
These scans do different jobs. An MRI gives the best soft-tissue detail and uses no radiation; a CT is faster and excellent for bone, the chest and emergencies; and a PET-CT adds information about the metabolic activity of tissues and is widely used for cancer staging. Your doctor chooses based on what needs to be seen.

MRI is one of the most valuable scans in cancer care, especially for the brain, liver, prostate, breast, rectum and spinal cord, and for the local staging of many tumours. A scan alone cannot confirm cancer, though — a biopsy is needed for a definite diagnosis, and a CT or PET-CT is often added to complete staging. If an MRI raises a concern, CION's oncology team can review it and advise the right next step.

Most MRIs need little preparation, but because the scanner uses a strong magnet, safety screening matters. You will be asked to remove all metal items and to declare any implants. You can usually eat and drink normally, except for some contrast or MRCP studies where short fasting is advised. A scan typically takes about 30–60 minutes, and the machine is noisy, so you will be given earplugs or headphones. See our full guide: How to Prepare for an MRI Scan.
An MRI uses no ionising radiation, which is one of its key advantages. The main safety consideration is the strong magnet: people with certain implants — such as some pacemakers, cochlear implants or aneurysm clips — may not be able to have an MRI, which is why screening is done first. Tell the team about any implant or device, if you are or might be pregnant, or if you feel anxious in enclosed spaces. Read more: Is an MRI Scan Safe?

It depends mainly on the body part and whether contrast is used. A single joint or one spine region is at the lower end, while whole-spine, whole-abdomen, breast or contrast studies cost more. CION shares an indicative price upfront once your prescription is reviewed.
MRI machines are expensive, scans take longer, and the imaging is highly detailed, so MRI generally costs more than a CT or X-ray. The tests are used for different purposes, though, and one does not simply replace another.
Usually yes — a contrast (gadolinium) study costs more than a plain scan because of the dye and the additional imaging involved. Your doctor decides whether contrast is needed.

Yes. An MRI is a prescribed investigation, so you will need a referral. If you are unsure which scan you need, our team can help and offer a free written second opinion.
Almost any — most commonly the brain, spine and joints, and also the abdomen, pelvis, prostate, breast and blood vessels. The right scan depends on your symptoms and what your doctor needs to see.
Reports are usually available the same day or by the next day, depending on the study and centre. If a scan raises a question, CION's oncology team can review it with you.
