"My brother is in Dubai, so he cannot be tested."
He can usually be tested where he lives, for the exact fault found in the family. A letter from your counsellor naming that change is what the laboratory there needs. His share of the family history can be given by phone.
"The company hospital checked us, so we do not need this."
A routine health check looks for illness now. Genetic counselling asks whether your family carries a raised risk for the future. They answer different questions, and one does not replace the other.
"A test is a test, so the cheapest nearby lab will do."
What matters most is who is tested first and which genes are read. That choice is what counselling is for. Testing the wrong person, or with the wrong test, often costs more in the end.
"If one sibling tests negative, all of us are clear."
Each brother or sister has their own chance of having inherited the fault. One sibling's negative result says nothing about the others. Each person who wants to know needs their own test.
