"Best" should be measurable. Here's our scorecard.

By the Numbers

CION's track record on breast cancer — put to numbers.

Skip the brochure language. Here are the metrics that actually distinguish a breast cancer hospital — published, verifiable, comparable to any other institution you're evaluating.

96.9%

Breast cancer 1-year survival rate

Published CION data. National average: 85.4%. Protocol-driven multidisciplinary care creates significantly better outcomes.

800+

Breast cancer cases treated annually

Across surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Higher treatment volume consistently improves outcomes.

52

Tumour board meetings per year

Weekly multidisciplinary reviews ensure every complex breast cancer case gets collaborative planning.

17+

Senior oncologists on panel

Consultants trained at AIIMS, Tata Memorial, NIMS, and international fellowships.

35+

Centres across Telangana & AP

South India's largest oncology network with extensive Hyderabad coverage.

15,000+

Patients treated to date

Breast cancer remains the highest treatment volume among all cancer types.

Accreditations & Recognitions
NABH National accreditation for hospitals
NABL Accredited diagnostic laboratories
ISO 9001:2015 Quality management certified
ArogyaSri Empanelled across all centres
CGHS · ECHS · EHS All government schemes accepted
NCCN Treatment protocols followed

Accreditations are renewed regularly and audited externally. Specific certificate numbers available on request from any branch.

"Best in Hyderabad" — every hospital says this. We'll show you the data.

Verifiable Data

CION's breast cancer outcomes — published, audited, comparable.

Before you choose a hospital for breast cancer treatment, ask for outcome data — the same way you'd ask for accreditations, but more important. Survival rates, recurrence rates, surgical complication rates. We publish ours. Most hospitals don't, and that's a signal.

Across all CION breast cancer cases (Stage 0–IV) treated 2022–2024. National Indian average is 85.4%. Difference reflects multidisciplinary care, modern protocols, and earlier-stage skew of our case mix.

Source: Internal audit, 2024 annual review · Verifiable on request

Of patients eligible for BCS at presentation. The remainder underwent mastectomy by patient choice or clinical contraindication. National Indian rate is approximately 50% — the difference reflects experienced surgical judgement and willingness to use neoadjuvant chemotherapy to enable BCS.

Source: Surgical oncology audit, 2024

Within 30 days of breast surgery. Includes re-operations for positive margins, haematoma, or wound complications. International benchmark for high-volume centres: 5–8%. Lower complications typically correlate with surgeon volume and frozen-section pathology use.

Source: Surgical complications register, rolling 12 months

Of cases reviewed at tumour board, 22% had the initially-proposed plan modified after multidisciplinary discussion. This isn't bad practice — it's the value of multidisciplinary input. A hospital with 0% modification rate is either skipping tumour board or rubber-stamping decisions.

Source: Tumour board minutes, 2023–2024

For early-stage breast cancer (Stage I–II) treated with curative intent and completing recommended therapy. International benchmark: 3–7% depending on stage mix. Reflects accurate margins, complete radiation when indicated, and adherence to systemic therapy.

Source: 5-year follow-up audit, 2019 cohort

Every CION patient receives a line-by-line written cost estimate before treatment begins. No verbal quotes, no surprise charges. If actual costs diverge during treatment (e.g. an unexpected ICU admission), the patient is informed and given choices, not invoiced after the fact.

Source: Internal commitment, audited monthly

What to ask any hospital you're comparing

  • "What is your 1-year and 5-year breast cancer survival rate, by stage?"
  • "What is your breast conservation surgery rate as a percentage of all cases?"
  • "What is your 30-day surgical complication and re-operation rate?"
  • "What is your locoregional recurrence rate at 5 years?"
  • "How many breast cancer cases do you treat per year?"
  • "Can I see your latest internal audit summary?"

If a hospital can't answer these — or refuses to — that's a signal. Outcome data is what differentiates a real cancer programme from a marketing one.

Free 45-minute consultation · We bring the data, not just brochures.

A "breast cancer hospital" should treat breast cancer differently than other cancers. We do.

Equipment doesn't treat cancer. The team using it does. But the right equipment lets the team do their best work.

Infrastructure & Equipment

What you'll see (and what you won't) behind the scenes.

A breast cancer hospital is more than the consulting room. Imaging, surgery, radiation, pathology — each requires specific kit. Here's the equipment we use and what each piece actually changes for you as a patient.

📷

Imaging & Diagnostics

Digital Mammography (3D Tomosynthesis) Layer-by-layer breast imaging. Better at detecting cancer in dense breasts than 2D mammography.
Breast Ultrasound — High-frequency probes Used alongside mammography in dense breasts and for image-guided biopsies.
Breast MRI (3T) For high-risk screening, pre-op planning, and assessing chemo response.
Image-guided biopsy suite Accurate sampling means we don't miss cancers and don't over-treat benign disease.
⚕️

Surgery

Modular operation theatres (Class 100) HEPA-filtered air with laminar flow systems.
Frozen-section pathology Tissue analysed during surgery to minimise re-operation.
Sentinel node mapping Reduces need for full axillary clearance.
Plastic surgery integration Reconstruction planning before mastectomy.
Meet The Specialists

17+ senior cancer specialists. One panel for your case.

Trained at AIIMS, Tata Memorial, and leading international centres. Combined 150+ years of experience. Every complex case is reviewed by 3+ of them — together.

Removing the unknowns

What actually happens at your free consultation?

Most people hesitate to book because they don't know what they're walking into. Here's exactly what happens — minute by minute. No surprises, no pressure.

0–5 min

Reception & paperwork

You're greeted by our patient coordinator. Quick form for basic details. Coffee or water if you want it. Wait time is rarely more than 10 minutes.

5–15 min

Listening session — your story, in your words

The oncologist sits with you, no rush. You explain what's going on, what's worrying you, what you've already been told. This part matters most. We listen before we look.

15–25 min

Report review & explanation

Bring whatever you have — biopsy, scans, blood reports, prescriptions. The oncologist reviews each one in front of you and explains what each means in plain language. No medical jargon dump.

25–35 min

Treatment options + cost transparency

Here's where you get clarity: what are the treatment paths, what does each cost, what does insurance cover, what are the trade-offs. Written estimate, line by line. For complex cases, your file goes to the tumour board next.

35–45 min

Your questions. Every single one.

Ask anything. About second opinions, about whether to wait, about whether another hospital might be better for your case. We answer honestly — even when the answer isn't "come to CION."

After

You leave with: the plan in writing.

Take it home. Discuss it with your family. Compare it with other hospitals. You're not committed to anything. If you choose CION, we move next steps in 24 hrs. If not — that's fine. The consultation is yours to keep.

3 Things You Won't Find at Most Cancer Hospitals

The reason breast cancer patients drive past 4 hospitals to reach us

Most hospitals do breast cancer treatment. CION does breast cancer care — and the difference shows up in three ways most patients only notice when something goes wrong elsewhere.

01

Three doctors, one decision.

A medical, surgical, and radiation oncologist sit together and review your breast cancer case before treatment is recommended. Not one doctor's opinion — a panel's consensus.

17+ specialists on every
tumour board
03

Written estimate. Before treatment.

Every patient gets a written treatment plan with cost breakdown before anything starts. No surprise bills. No verbal-only quotes that change. We're upfront because we have to be.

Our Promise to You

We know what you're worried about.
Here's what we'll never do.

Cancer treatment is the most consequential decision most families ever make. These aren't features — they're commitments.

We will never pressure you to start treatment with us.

The free consultation is genuinely free, with no obligation. If our doctors don't think CION is the right fit for your case, we'll tell you that — and refer you elsewhere if needed.

We will never quote a price verbally and bill differently.

Every patient gets a written treatment plan with cost breakdown, line by line, before treatment starts. What you read is what you pay. Insurance gaps are spelled out — not glossed over.

We will never rush a diagnosis or treatment decision.

Every complex case goes through our multidisciplinary tumour board — even if it adds a day. Same-day consultations are available, but big decisions get the time they deserve.

We will never discourage a second opinion.

We actively recommend you get one — at CION or elsewhere. Confident doctors don't fear being questioned. Bring our plan to any other oncologist in India. If they suggest something better, take it.

We will never turn you away because of insurance.

ArogyaSri, CGHS, ECHS, EHS, and all major private insurers are accepted. Cashless wherever possible. Our admissions team handles the paperwork end-to-end so you can focus on getting better.

We will never hide the truth to keep you hopeful.

Our doctors give you the prognosis honestly — including when the news is hard. False reassurance helps no one. You'll get the full picture, in plain language, and a clear plan for what comes next.

Have questions about any of these? Talk to a senior oncologist — free.

"What happens when treatment ends?" — five years of structured follow-up.

Survivorship

Treatment ends. Care continues for five more years.

Active treatment is 6–12 months for most breast cancer patients. The recurrence window is at its highest in years 1–3 and remains real through year 5+. Most hospitals quietly transition you to "you're done, see you if anything happens." CION runs a structured survivorship programme — same panel, scheduled visits, deliberate care.

  • Clinical examination every 3 months with your medical oncologist
  • Mammography of remaining breast tissue annually
  • MRI annually for high-risk patients (BRCA, dense breasts, prior multifocal disease)
  • Tumour markers (CA 15-3) selectively if elevated at diagnosis
  • Bone density (DEXA) baseline at 12 months for patients on aromatase inhibitors
  • Cardiac echo every 3 months for patients on HER2-targeted therapy
  • Clinical examination every 6 months
  • Annual mammography continues
  • DEXA every 2 years on aromatase inhibitors
  • Hormone therapy decisions: switch agents, extend duration to 10 years for high-risk HR-positive cases
  • BRCA-positive patients: discuss risk-reducing strategies for contralateral breast and ovaries
  • Yearly fitness, bone health, and sexual health assessment
  • Annual clinical examination
  • Annual screening mammography
  • Continue hormone therapy for selected patients (extended adjuvant)
  • Late-effect screening: cardiotoxicity, secondary cancers, cognitive function
  • Transition planning to survivorship clinic for routine follow-up
  • Genetic re-assessment as new family information emerges

Beyond medical follow-up — survivorship support

Monthly meetings at Ameerpet branch + online community. Survivors at all stages — newly diagnosed to 10+ years out. Most members say it's the most useful resource they've encountered.

Continued access to onco-counsellors. The fear of recurrence is real and treatable. We don't make you feel like asking for help is weakness.

Pre-emptive screening at every follow-up. If detected, immediate physiotherapy referral — early intervention almost always reverses it. On-site at flagship branches.

Often-ignored topic. Hormone therapy and surgery affect intimacy and sexuality. Discreet, professional consultations available — non-judgmental, no waiting room awkwardness.

For patients on aromatase inhibitors. DEXA scans, calcium/vitamin D guidance, bisphosphonate when indicated. Osteoporosis is a real long-term risk we manage actively.

Practical guidance for resuming work, conversations with employers, fatigue management. We've seen what works and what doesn't across hundreds of patients.

Book your first consultation. We'll explain the full 5-year journey upfront.

of cancer patients in India accept the first treatment plan they're given — without ever getting a second opinion. Don't be the 82%.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to what most of our patients ask before booking.

Is CION an accredited breast cancer hospital?
Yes. CION holds NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals) accreditation across our network, plus NABL accreditation for our diagnostic laboratories and ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management. We're empanelled with ArogyaSri, CGHS, ECHS, EHS, and all major private insurance schemes. Specific certificate numbers available on request from any branch.
How does CION compare to Apollo, Care, KIMS, and Yashoda for breast cancer?
Each hospital has strengths. CION's focus is specifically oncology — not a general hospital with a cancer wing. Our breast cancer 1-year survival rate is 96.9% versus the 85.4% national average. We treat 800+ breast cancer cases annually with weekly tumour boards reviewing every complex case. We use NCCN American protocols and offer free written second opinions. Compare specifics — survival data, tumour board frequency, written cost estimates, panel review.
How many breast cancer cases does CION treat per year?
Approximately 800+ breast cancer cases annually across our Hyderabad network — this includes new diagnoses, second opinions, and continuing-care patients. Surgical volume covers breast conservation, mastectomy, and reconstruction. Medical oncology delivers 2,500+ chemotherapy cycles per year. Volume drives quality in oncology — published in dozens of studies.
Does CION have a dedicated breast cancer programme or is it just a department?
We run a structured five-stage breast cancer programme: screening (free monthly camps), diagnosis & staging (in-house biopsy + IHC + FISH), multidisciplinary treatment planning (tumour board), active treatment (surgery, chemo, radiation, targeted therapy), and survivorship & follow-up (5-year structured plan). The same panel of specialists follows you across all stages.
What equipment does CION have for breast cancer treatment?
Imaging: digital mammography (3D tomosynthesis), high-frequency breast ultrasound, 3T MRI, image-guided biopsy suite. Pathology: NABL-accredited histopathology lab with IHC, FISH for HER2 borderline cases. Surgery: modular Class-100 OTs with frozen-section pathology, sentinel node mapping, plastic surgery integration. Radiation: modern linear accelerators (LINAC) delivering IMRT, IGRT, SBRT — including DIBH heart-sparing for left-sided cancers.
How often does CION's breast cancer tumour board actually meet?
Weekly — 52 meetings per year. Every complex breast cancer case is reviewed before treatment recommendation. The board includes medical oncologist (chair), surgical oncologist, radiation oncologist, pathologist, radiologist, and genetic counsellor or plastic surgeon when relevant. Approximately 1,000 cases reviewed annually. About 22% of initially-recommended plans are modified after panel review — that's the value of multidisciplinary input.
Does CION follow NCCN American protocols for breast cancer?
Yes. NCCN guidelines are the most widely-followed evidence-based oncology protocol set globally — used by Memorial Sloan Kettering, MD Anderson, and other top US cancer centres. CION explicitly references NCCN in our treatment plans. We can show you the relevant page in your file at consultation.
How long has CION been treating breast cancer patients?
CION Cancer Clinics has treated 15,000+ patients to date across all cancer types since inception. Breast cancer is our largest treatment volume by case count. Our senior consultant team has 150+ years of combined oncology experience — trained at AIIMS New Delhi, Tata Memorial Mumbai, NIMS Hyderabad, plus international fellowships.
Is there a separate breast cancer ward / inpatient setup at CION?
Inpatient and recovery areas are configured for oncology patients with single and shared rooms (with attendant space for family — important for South Indian patients), ICU back-up at flagship branches, on-site rehabilitation and physiotherapy, dedicated chemo day-care units, and counselling rooms for difficult conversations. Can I observe my breast cancer tumour board discussion?
Yes — we invite patients to attend the segment of the meeting where their case is discussed, by video, with names redacted. Most patients don't take this up, but the option exists. Ask at your consultation. We don't market 'tumour board' without showing what one is.
