The Free Oncologist Consultation — Included With Every CION PET-CT
Every PET-CT booked at CION includes a consultation with a CION oncologist at no extra charge. Most imaging centres give you a printed report and leave you to find a doctor separately. Here, your scan result becomes an answer — not just a document — before you leave the centre.

- Included at no extra cost — Worth ₹950, the consultation is part of your PET-CT booking. There is no separate fee and no hidden charge.
- With a CION oncologist — Not a radiologist, not a general physician — an oncologist who specialises in cancer treatment and can put your result in context.
- Same day as your scan — You discuss your result before you leave the centre, not at a follow-up appointment booked days later.
- Bring your history — Earlier scans, your biopsy result, and a medicines list give the oncologist the context to give you useful answers.

Who conducts the consultation, and what is it actually for?
The consultation is with a CION oncologist — a doctor who specialises in cancer treatment, not a radiologist or a general physician. A radiologist's job is to describe what the scan shows. An oncologist's job is to tell you what it means for your treatment plan.
The oncologist will go through your scan result with you, explain the key findings in plain language, and answer your questions about what comes next. If your result suggests a change in your disease, they can discuss what that means for your plan before you leave the centre.
To make the most of the appointment, bring all your earlier scan reports — CT, MRI, PET-CT — even from other hospitals. Bring your biopsy report if you have one. Write down every medicine, supplement, and traditional preparation you are currently taking. And write your questions down beforehand, because it is easy to forget them once you are in the room.
Did you know?
NCCN guidelines for staging, response assessment, and recurrence detection consistently note that PET-CT findings should be interpreted in the context of the patient's treatment history and clinical picture — not from the scan report in isolation.
A same-day oncologist consultation is where that interpretation happens. Without it, you leave with findings. With it, you leave with answers.

Talk to an oncologist about your scan
Your PET-CT report read by a senior oncologist, explained in plain language, with a free 45-minute consultation.
Frequently asked questions
Is the oncologist consultation really free, or does it appear on the bill later?
It is genuinely included in your booking — there is no consultation line item on your bill. The oncologist appointment is part of the CION service, not an optional extra that appears unless you ask. If you are booking by phone or through a referral, ask the centre to confirm what is included at the time of booking so there are no surprises on the day.
Can I ask about my treatment during the consultation, or is it only about the scan?
You can ask about your treatment. The consultation is not limited to reading the report aloud. The oncologist is there to put the result in context — including what it means for your next step, whether your current treatment appears to be working, and what the result suggests for your follow-up plan. Bring any questions you have been carrying since your last appointment. Writing them down beforehand helps.
Is the consultation with a radiologist or an oncologist?
It is with an oncologist — a doctor who specialises in cancer treatment. A radiologist describes scan findings in technical terms. An oncologist interprets what those findings mean for your specific treatment plan, in language you can act on. Most standalone imaging centres give you the radiologist's written report and leave you to find a treating doctor separately.
What should I bring to make the most of the consultation?
Bring all earlier scan reports — CT, MRI, PET-CT — even from other hospitals, even if they are years old. Bring your biopsy report and any letters from other treating doctors. Write down every medicine, supplement, and traditional preparation you are currently taking. And write your questions down before you arrive, because the consultation moves quickly and it is easy to remember the question only after you have left.
How long is the consultation?
Long enough to go through your result and answer your questions — typically around 15 to 20 minutes, though it depends on how many earlier reports there are to review and how many questions you have. If your case is complex or you have reports from multiple centres, let the CION team know when you book. It helps them set aside enough time so the appointment is not rushed.
Does the free consultation apply if my scan is covered by Aarogyasri or insurance?
Yes, the consultation is included regardless of how the scan is paid for — out of pocket, under Aarogyasri, or through a private insurer. It is part of the CION service, not a billing item that disappears when a scheme is applied. Scheme and insurance coverage details vary by centre and scheme type, so confirm the full scope of what is covered with your specific CION centre when you book.
