How to Book a PET-CT Scan — in Hyderabad
Booking a PET-CT scan through CION is straightforward, but it does need a referral letter from your oncologist. Once you have that, CION coordinates the slot at a partner imaging centre and your team reviews the report.

How soon can you get a slot in Hyderabad?
Most CION-coordinated PET-CT scans are arranged within a few days of the referral. The exact timing depends on the partner imaging centre's availability and whether your scan is routine or flagged as urgent.
If your oncologist has marked the scan as urgent, say so clearly when you call to book. The coordination team can prioritise slots when there is a clinical reason to do so.
If you have not received a booking date within a day or two of your referral being issued, call the CION centre that referred you rather than waiting for your next scheduled appointment.
If you are travelling from outside Hyderabad to make the slot
Confirm your slot time and the exact address of the imaging centre the evening before you travel. The scan takes place at a partner imaging centre, not at the CION clinic — your team will give you the correct address when they confirm the booking.
PET-CT requires fasting before the scan and a waiting period after the injection before the scan itself begins. Allow for most of a morning or afternoon, not a quick in-and-out visit.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, call your CION centre as soon as you know. Rescheduling goes through CION, not the imaging centre directly, and early notice gives you a much better chance of a prompt replacement slot.
CION does PET-CT in Hyderabad from Rs 10,499 — among the lowest published prices in the city — including an oncologist-reviewed report and a free Rs 950 consultation. Indicative price, as of September 2026.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral letter, or can I walk in for a PET-CT?
You need a referral from your treating doctor. Walk-in PET-CT without a referral is not arranged through CION. The referral tells the imaging team what to look for, which scan parameters to use, and where to send the report. If you do not have one yet, ask your oncologist at your next appointment or call the CION centre that manages your care.
How long does the whole PET-CT visit take?
Set aside most of a morning or afternoon. After the injection, you rest quietly for a period before the scan itself begins. The scanning time then varies depending on what is being imaged. You can leave once the scan is complete — you do not wait for the report on the same day. Your booking team will give you the specific timing when they confirm your slot.
When will I get the PET-CT report?
Reports are typically ready within a day or two of the scan. Your CION oncologist reviews the report and discusses it with you at your next appointment, or sooner if the result is needed urgently. Do not chase the imaging centre directly for the report — your oncologist's team handles the follow-up and will contact you.
Does CION do PET-CT at its own clinic buildings?
No. CION coordinates PET-CT at partner imaging centres, so the scan itself takes place at a partner facility rather than at the CION clinic you normally attend. Your team will give you the address when they confirm the booking. The oncology review — what the report means for your treatment and what happens next — takes place at CION.
Can I eat or drink before a PET-CT scan?
You will need to fast before the scan. Eating affects how the body takes up glucose, which is what the scan measures, and food in the system can make the images harder to read accurately. Your booking team will tell you what you can and cannot have, and for how long. Diabetic patients need specific guidance because fasting and blood sugar interact — raise this at the time of booking, not on the morning of the scan.
What if I miss my slot or need to reschedule?
Call your CION centre as soon as you know. Rescheduling goes through CION, not the imaging centre directly. Slots are limited, and early notice gives you a much better chance of a quick replacement date. If you are travelling from outside Hyderabad, confirm your appointment the evening before you travel and save your CION centre's number so you can call immediately if your plans change.
