NTR Vaidya Seva and — Chemotherapy Coverage

The scheme covers chemotherapy regimens on its approved package list, which includes treatments most commonly used in India for major cancer types. Not every regimen available is listed. Your oncologist will design treatment from listed regimens where possible. If the regimen you need is not on the list, your team can advise on options — including applying through the scheme's Integrated Grievance Redressal Mechanism in specific circumstances.

Eligibility is linked to your White Ration Card issued in Andhra Pradesh. If you hold a valid White Ration Card, you are likely eligible. The simplest way to confirm is to visit the nearest empanelled hospital with your card and Aadhaar, or to contact your village or ward secretariat. You do not need to visit any separate government office before your first hospital appointment.

The scheme covers consultations and tests that are part of your registered treatment package, including follow-up visits and blood tests listed under your approved procedure. Tests or visits that fall outside the package may need to be paid separately. Ask your treating team at the start of treatment which follow-up activities are covered and which are not, so you are not surprised mid-treatment.

In Andhra Pradesh, both schemes are available to families who qualify under each. The AP government has integrated NTR Vaidya Seva with the central PMJAY programme, and eligible families can access treatment through both. Your treating hospital will advise on which scheme applies to your specific treatment package. You do not need to choose before your first visit.

Raise this directly with your oncologist. For some patients, an application can be made through the scheme's Integrated Grievance Redressal Mechanism for coverage of an unlisted regimen. In other situations, the oncologist will propose a covered regimen that aims for a similar outcome. If your recommended treatment cannot be covered, you will be given a clear picture of the expected costs before any decision is made.

Bring your White Ration Card (or existing Vaidya Seva card), an Aadhaar card, your previous medical records or biopsy reports, and any referral letter from a government hospital if you have one. The CION team will initiate pre-authorisation from the first visit. You do not need to visit the scheme office or obtain any prior approval before coming.
