What to expect when you arrive

Your first visit will usually take longer than follow-up appointments. Allow two to three hours if you are seeing an oncologist for the first time — the team will review your records, examine you, and explain your options.

If you are coming for a day-care infusion, arrive at the time your team has given you. Most infusions last a few hours. You can eat beforehand unless your team has told you otherwise.

If you are unsure which centre handles your specific treatment, or want help with directions, call 1800 202 8726 and the team will guide you to the right location.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How do I find my nearest CION centre in Hyderabad?

The centre list on this page shows locations across Hyderabad with addresses and contact details. If you are not sure which is closest or most suitable for your treatment type, call 1800 202 8726 and the team will advise you based on where you live and what you need.

Do I need a referral letter to book an appointment?

No referral is required. You can call any CION centre directly or use the number 1800 202 8726 to book an initial consultation. Bringing any existing reports or imaging you already have will help your oncologist from the start, but you do not need a letter from another doctor to get an appointment.

Is chemotherapy given as day care or will I need to stay overnight?

Most chemotherapy regimens at CION are given as day-care infusions — you arrive, receive your treatment, and go home the same day. Whether any of your cycles require an overnight admission depends on your specific plan. Your oncologist will tell you in advance if a hospital stay is needed for any part of your treatment.

Is CION empanelled under Aarogyasri or other government health schemes?

Scheme empanelment varies by centre and changes regularly. Ask about your specific scheme — Aarogyasri, CGHS, ECHS, or ESI — when you call to book, or bring your card to your first appointment. The team will confirm what is covered before treatment begins. Do not assume coverage without checking, as the list of covered services can change.

Where do I go for my PET-CT scan?

CION does not have PET-CT on-site. Your oncologist will order the scan and the team will tell you which partner imaging centre to go to and when. You do not need to find a facility on your own — the appointment is arranged for you as part of your care at CION.

Can family members come with me?

Yes, and it is encouraged — especially for a first consultation. It is easier to take in what the oncologist says when someone else is also listening and can ask questions you may not think of in the moment. For infusion appointments, the centre will let you know how many people can accompany you based on available space that day.
