The type of cancer
Some cancers are treated mainly with an operation, some mainly with medicines, and some with all three kinds of treatment. Each path has a very different cost.
They plan treatment with surgeons and radiation doctors at a tumour board, so it is planned once. Call to check where and when your doctor is in.

Four things matter far more than which building you walk into. Knowing them helps you read any estimate you are given.
Some cancers are treated mainly with an operation, some mainly with medicines, and some with all three kinds of treatment. Each path has a very different cost.
Stage means how far the cancer has spread. Early cancer usually needs less treatment, over a shorter time. This is one reason an early consultation can save money as well as worry.
Older chemotherapy medicines often cost far less than newer targeted or immune medicines. The newer drug is not always the better choice for your cancer.
Ask your oncologist
A night in a ward costs more than a day-care visit. Where your treatment allows it, day-care keeps that part of the bill small.

Our care team asks what has been found so far, and which insurance or scheme the family already holds. Then they fix a time with the oncologist.

Biopsy reports, scan films and CDs, blood tests and discharge summaries. A recent scan you already paid for may not need to be done again.

Dr. Naresh Gundu or Dr. N. Kiranmayee goes through the reports, examines the patient and says what is still missing. Only the tests that change the plan are ordered.

Medical, surgical and radiation oncologists discuss the case together. One agreed plan avoids paying twice for a change of direction later.

You receive a written estimate before treatment begins, and the team helps with cashless insurance paperwork.
Every case goes to CION’s network tumour board, where these specialists from CION’s centres join your doctor. Ask for any of them when you book.

Keeps cost in check: Bringing every report, so nothing is repeated
Keeps cost in check: One plan agreed at a tumour board
Keeps cost in check: Day-care chemotherapy where the evidence allows
Keeps cost in check: A written estimate before the first dose
Keeps cost in check: Asking the care team to check it for you
Consultations and chemotherapy both happen at CION Ameerpet. For many families from this part of the city, that means fewer long trips, fewer days off work and less spent on autos and cabs over the whole course of treatment.
Most chemotherapy is given as day-care. You come in, your blood counts are checked, the medicine is given, and you go home that evening. There is no ward bill for the night. Some treatments do need a hospital stay, and your oncologist will tell you in advance if yours is one of them.
CION's team helps with cashless insurance and gives you a written estimate before you start. If the family holds a government or employer health scheme, tell the care team when you call. They will check what it may cover for your treatment. Bring the card and policy papers to the first visit.
CION Cancer Clinics, 2nd Floor, Plot No. 4, HMDA Maitrivanam, Satyam Theatre Road, beside Blue Fox Hotel, Srinivasa Nagar, Ameerpet, Hyderabad 500038. It is a short walk from Ameerpet Metro and near the Ameerpet bus stop. The centre is open Monday to Saturday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Families from Begumpet, SR Nagar, Punjagutta, Somajiguda and Erramanzil often find it the easiest centre to reach.
Myth
What is true: Many families decide this before they have seen a single estimate. Insurance, an existing scheme and day-care treatment can all change the figure a great deal. Ask for the written estimate first, then decide.
Myth
What is true: A newer medicine is sometimes the right choice and sometimes adds cost without helping your type of cancer. Your oncologist can tell you which, and why, in plain words.
Myth
What is true: Waiting often makes treatment longer and harder, which costs more. A first consultation tells you where you stand, and what the next steps will cost, before you commit to anything.
Myth
What is true: Not if the reports are recent and clear. Bring every report, scan CD and discharge summary. The doctor repeats a test only when the answer would change the plan.

It depends on the type of cancer, its stage, the treatment chosen and whether a hospital stay is needed. That is why we do not print a figure. After the consultation and the tumour board, you receive a written estimate for your own plan before any treatment begins, so the family can decide with the real number.
Yes. CION's team helps with cashless insurance and gives you a written estimate before you start. Bring the insurance card, the policy papers and the patient's ID to the first visit. The team will tell you what your insurer needs and help you send it.
Tell the care team about it when you call. They will check what your scheme may cover for the treatment you need, and tell you honestly. Bring the scheme card and any letters you hold. We cannot promise cover before the scheme itself has confirmed it.
Chemotherapy is given at CION Ameerpet, usually as day-care, so most people go home the same evening. That saves the cost of a ward bed. If your treatment needs a stay, your oncologist will tell you in advance and include it in the estimate.
Often not. Bring every report, scan CD and discharge summary, including the old ones. The oncologist reads them all and repeats a test only if it is unclear, out of date or would change the plan. This is one of the simplest ways to keep the bill down.
Medical oncologists Dr. Naresh Gundu and Dr. N. Kiranmayee see patients at Ameerpet. They plan chemotherapy and other cancer medicines, and work with CION's surgical and radiation oncologists at the tumour board. Call ahead so the doctor you want is in on the day you come.
Neither is done at Ameerpet. Your CION doctors plan it, and your care team names the centre that does it. You are told where it is and given its estimate before you agree to anything, so there is no surprise bill later.
Yes. Bring the plan and every report behind it. An oncologist will tell you whether they agree with it, whether a simpler option exists, and why. Many families do this before treatment starts. It does not commit you to treatment at CION.
