Other CION centres in Hyderabad
How it is avoided: Every old report and CD brought to the first visit
How it is avoided: One plan agreed by a tumour board
How it is avoided: Day-care chemotherapy where the evidence allows
How it is avoided: Help with cashless insurance from the start
How it is avoided: A written estimate before treatment begins
Ask for any of these on the first call. The care team expects the question and will not think less of you for it.
Once the plan is agreed, you receive the expected cost in writing, before the first dose. You can take it home and talk it through as a family.
CION's team helps with cashless insurance and gives you a written estimate before you start. Bring the insurance card and the policy papers.
If the family holds a government or employer health scheme, the care team checks what it may cover. They tell you plainly, and do not promise cover the scheme has not confirmed.
Chemotherapy at this centre is mostly given in a day. The patient goes home that evening.
Not for everyone
Every case goes to CION’s network tumour board, where these specialists from CION’s centres join your doctor. Ask for any of them when you book.

Start with a Consultation
Ask for the doctor you want, or we’ll match you.
Say it plainly at the first visit. Cost is part of the plan, and a good oncologist would rather know early than find out halfway through that the family is struggling.
Is there more than one reasonable treatment for this cancer? What difference would each make? Can the treatment be given as day-care? Which tests are really needed now, and which can wait? These questions do not lower the standard of care. They help the doctor choose a plan your family can finish.
Targeted and immune medicines can cost far more than older chemotherapy. For some cancers they make a real difference. For others, the older medicine works as well. Dr. Owais Mohammed can tell you which applies to you, and why, in words the family can repeat.
Say so, even if it feels uncomfortable. A doctor who knows the money is tight can plan the order of tests with more care, keep more of the treatment in day-care, and ask the care team to look again at your insurance or scheme before anything is booked.
An operation and radiotherapy are not done at CION Banjara Hills. Your CION doctors plan them, and the care team names the centre that does them and gives you its estimate before you agree.
Good to know
CION Banjara Hills is close to Errum Manzil Metro and the Irrum Manzil bus stop. Families from Jubilee Hills, Film Nagar, Yousufguda, Madhapur and Punjagutta often find it easy to reach.

The care team asks what has been found, which hospital found it, and what cover the family holds. They fix a time with Dr. Owais Mohammed.

Bring biopsy reports, scan CDs, blood tests and discharge summaries. Clear, recent results usually do not need to be repeated.

The oncologist reads everything, examines the patient and explains what is known. Only tests that would change the plan are ordered.

Medical, surgical and radiation oncologists discuss the case and agree one plan, so the family does not pay for a change of direction later.

You receive the written estimate and insurance help, then decide. Treatment starts only once you agree.
Myth
What is true: The neighbourhood does not set the cost of cancer treatment. The type and stage of cancer, the treatment chosen and any hospital stay do. Ask for the written estimate and judge the figure, not the address.
Myth
What is true: Telling the doctor about cost helps them choose a plan the family can see through to the end. Stopping halfway for lack of money is far worse for the patient than a frank talk at the start.
Myth
What is true: Most chemotherapy today is given as day-care. You come in, receive it and sleep at home. Your oncologist tells you in advance if yours needs a stay.
Myth
What is true: A second opinion can confirm a plan or show a simpler one. Either way, it is a small cost next to a whole course of treatment.

It depends on the type of cancer, its stage, the treatment chosen and whether the patient needs a hospital stay. We do not print one figure because it would mislead most families. After the consultation and the tumour board, you receive a written estimate for your own plan before treatment starts.
Medical oncologist Dr. Owais Mohammed sees patients at CION Banjara Hills. He plans chemotherapy and other cancer medicines, and works with CION's surgical and radiation oncologists at the tumour board. Call ahead so he is in on the day you plan to come.
CION's team helps with cashless insurance and gives you a written estimate before you start. Bring the insurance card, the policy papers and the patient's ID to the first visit, and the team will tell you what your insurer needs and help you send it.
Tell the care team about any scheme the family holds when you call. They will check what it may cover for your treatment and tell you honestly. Bring the scheme card and letters to the first visit. Cover is confirmed by the scheme, not by us, so we do not promise it.
Yes. Chemotherapy is given at CION Banjara Hills, mostly as day-care, so most patients go home the same evening. That avoids the cost of a ward bed. If a treatment needs a stay, your oncologist tells you in advance and it is included in the estimate.
The centre is in Banjara Hills, close to Errum Manzil Metro and the Irrum Manzil bus stop. Call the helpline before you set out and the care team will guide you to the door. The centre is open Monday to Saturday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
Often not. Bring every report and scan CD, including old ones. The oncologist repeats a test only when it is unclear, out of date or would change the plan. Families who bring everything usually spend less in the first weeks.
Say so to the oncologist before treatment starts. Sometimes another reasonable treatment exists, or more can be given as day-care. Sometimes insurance or a scheme can carry more of the cost. It is far better to have this talk early than to stop treatment halfway.
