Call the helpline or leave your number. Tell the care team what the reports say so far, and which insurance or health scheme the family holds. They book the visit at CION Kukatpally and tell you which doctor you will see.

Put every biopsy report, scan CD, blood test and discharge summary in one folder. Recent tests that are clear often do not need to be paid for again.

The oncologist reads everything and orders only the tests that would change the plan. Medical, surgical and radiation oncologists then agree one plan together.

Before any treatment starts, you receive the estimate in writing and help with cashless insurance paperwork.
Four things decide most of the cost. Knowing them helps you read an estimate and ask the right questions about it.
Some cancers are treated mainly with an operation, others mainly with medicines, and many with both, plus radiotherapy. Stage means how far the cancer has spread. Cancer found early usually needs less treatment over a shorter time, which is a good reason not to put off the first visit to save money.
Older chemotherapy medicines often cost far less than newer targeted or immune medicines. Sometimes the newer one is clearly the right choice. Sometimes it adds cost without helping your type of cancer. Ask your oncologist whether there is a choice, and what difference each option would make.
A night in a ward costs more than a day-care visit. Where the evidence for your cancer allows it, chemotherapy is given as day-care and the patient sleeps at home. Fewer long journeys also mean fewer days off work for the family member who comes along.
Good to know
An operation and radiotherapy are not done at a CION clinic. The care team names the centre for each, and gives you its estimate, before you agree.
Every case goes to CION’s network tumour board, where these specialists from CION’s centres join your doctor. Ask for any of them when you book.

Start with a Consultation
Ask for the doctor you want, or we’ll match you.
Try this: One consultation and one tumour board plan
Try this: Carrying every report, old ones included
Try this: Asking for the written estimate first
Try this: Telling the care team about it on the first call
None of this lowers the price of a medicine. It stops the family paying for things that did not need to happen.
CION's team helps with cashless insurance and gives you a written estimate before you start. Bring the insurance card and policy papers to the first visit.
If the family holds a government or employer health scheme, the care team checks what it may cover for your treatment and tells you honestly.
Where the evidence for your cancer allows it, chemotherapy is given in a day and the patient goes home that evening, with no ward bill for the night.
If another hospital has already quoted a plan, an oncologist can review it and say whether a simpler option exists.
The care team tells you before each visit what to bring and which doctor you will see, so a journey from Balanagar is not wasted on a missing report.
Myth
What is true: Waiting rarely saves money. Cancer that grows usually needs more treatment, for longer. A first consultation tells you what is needed and what it will cost, in writing, before you decide.
Myth
What is true: The nearest CION clinic for Balanagar families is CION Kukatpally. Day-care treatment means most visits end the same day, so there is usually no need to stay overnight.
Myth
What is true: Many policies do cover parts of it. The only way to know is to have your policy checked against your plan. Bring the papers, and the care team will help you find out.
Myth
What is true: A plan agreed by several specialists, given as day-care and built on the tests you already have can cost less and still be the right plan for you.

No. CION has no hospital or clinic of its own in Balanagar. Families from Balanagar are seen at CION Kukatpally. Call the helpline or leave your number, and the care team will book the visit, tell you which doctor you will see and explain where each later step of treatment happens.
Not honestly. The cost depends on the type of cancer, its stage, the treatment chosen and whether a hospital stay is needed. After the consultation and the tumour board, you receive a written estimate for your own plan, before anything starts, so you decide with a real number.
Medical oncologists Dr. Naresh Gundu and Dr. N. Kiranmayee are part of the CION team that serves families from Balanagar. The care team tells you where and when each one sees patients. They work with CION's surgical and radiation oncologists at the tumour board.
CION's team helps with cashless insurance and gives you a written estimate before you start. Bring the insurance card, the policy papers and the patient's ID to the first visit. The team tells you what your insurer needs and helps you send it.
It may. Tell the care team about it on the first call and bring the card or letter. They will check what the scheme may cover for his treatment and tell you plainly. Cover can only be confirmed by the scheme itself, so we will not promise it in advance.
Often not. Bring every report and scan CD, even the old ones. The oncologist repeats a test only when it is unclear, out of date or would change the plan. This is one of the simplest ways a family keeps the bill down.
Not at a CION clinic. Your CION doctors plan it, and the care team names the centre that does it. You are told where it is, and given its estimate, before you agree. Planning and follow-up visits can stay with the CION team.
Yes, for a first talk about the reports and the likely costs. Many families start this way when the patient is unwell or working. The oncologist still needs to see the patient before treatment is planned, but a lot can be explained to you first.
