Start with a medical oncologist, who looks at the full picture and brings in surgery or radiation as needed.
Medical oncologist
A surgical oncologist decides whether an operation is the right first step and can arrange a biopsy if none has been done.
Surgical oncologists
A radiation oncologist explains whether it suits you, what area is treated and what the course involves.
Radiation oncologists
A haematologist looks after leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and blood count problems.
Haematologist

Our care team asks what was found, at which hospital, and which language you prefer. They then fix a time with the doctor who fits.

Biopsy slides or reports, scan CDs, blood tests and discharge papers. An old report can hold the one line the doctor needs.

The oncologist reviews the papers, examines the patient and explains what is known. A family member who helps decide should be there.

Your case is discussed by several specialists. You then hear the plan, the other choices and a written cost estimate.
Every case goes to CION’s network tumour board, where these specialists from CION’s centres join your doctor. Ask for any of them when you book.

Ask for the doctor you want, or we’ll match you.
The result of the biopsy, read by a doctor under a microscope. It names the type of cancer and is the most important paper you carry.
Benign means a growth is not cancer. Malignant means it is cancer and can spread.
Small glands that filter fluid in the body. Cancer found in them can change the stage and the plan.
A routine blood test of red cells, white cells and platelets. It is often the first clue to a blood cancer.
A meeting where specialists of different kinds review one patient's case together and agree the plan.
Why it matters: The plan is built on these two facts
Why it matters: So you can weigh the side effects against the benefit
Why it matters: So the family can plan travel and time off work
Why it matters: So money worries do not interrupt treatment midway
Why it matters: Side effects at home are easier to manage early
Consultations with all six specialists and chemotherapy take place at CION Kukatpally. An operation or a course of radiotherapy is planned here, and our care team books it at the centre that does it. You are told the place before you agree.
Most chemotherapy here is given in a single day. Your blood counts are checked, the treatment runs while nurses watch, and you go home in the evening. If your medicines need a hospital stay, the oncologist tells you before the first dose.
CION Cancer Clinics, inside OMNI Hospitals, Mumbai Highway, opposite Big Bazaar, Balaji Nagar, Kukatpally, Hyderabad, Telangana 500072. It is a short walk from Kukatpally Metro and near the Balaji Nagar bus stop. The centre is open Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Families from KPHB, JNTU, Moosapet, Bharat Nagar, Miyapur, Nizampet and Balanagar often find Kukatpally the simplest centre to reach. If Ameerpet or Kompally is nearer, the same helpline books those too.
Good to know
This page cannot tell you which doctor your case needs. Your reports can, so share them with our care team first.
Myth
What is true: Many cancers cause no pain in the early stages. A lump, a change in a report or unexplained weight loss is reason enough to see a specialist, pain or no pain.
Myth
What is true: For some cancers, medicines or radiotherapy come first to shrink the tumour. For blood cancers there is usually no operation at all. The right order comes from a joint review of your case.
Myth
What is true: Consultations and most chemotherapy happen as outpatient or day-care visits. Hospital stays are mainly for surgery and some intensive treatments, and you are told in advance.
Myth
What is true: Good doctors expect questions and want the family to understand the plan. Write yours down before the visit so nothing is forgotten in the moment.

The CION centre's address is inside OMNI Hospitals, on the Mumbai Highway in Balaji Nagar. Your cancer consultations and chemotherapy there are with CION's doctors and nurses. For anything outside your cancer care, ask our care team who to contact.
Yes. Chemotherapy is given at this centre, usually as day-care, so most people go home the same day. Your oncologist checks your blood counts before each treatment and tells you early if a stay is needed.
Your CION surgeon or radiation doctor plans it, and our care team books it at the centre that does it. You are told the name and location of that centre, with a written estimate, before you agree to go ahead.
The centre is open Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. It is a short walk from Kukatpally Metro and near the Balaji Nagar bus stop. Call ahead so the doctor you need is in on that day.
CION's team helps with cashless insurance and gives you a written estimate before you start. Bring your insurance card and policy papers. If you have employer or government cover, mention it when you call so the team can check it.
No. You can call the helpline or leave your number on this page. A referral letter is useful but not needed. Bringing every report, scan CD and discharge summary matters much more for the first visit.
Yes. Many families begin with a talk about the reports when the patient is unwell or far away. The doctor will need to see the patient before treatment is planned, but a great deal can be explained to you at that first meeting.
