The short answer

How much does liver cancer treatment cost in Hyderabad?

There is no single price, because liver cancer has no single treatment. A small tumour treated once with ablation costs a fraction of a plan that combines surgery, embolisation and months of systemic therapy. The ranges below are indicative 2026 Hyderabad estimates. Your own bill depends on the stage, the health of the rest of your liver and the cover you have.

Which liver cancer this page is about

This page is about primary liver cancer, the kind that starts in the liver itself, usually hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Many people who search for liver cancer costs have cancer that spread to the liver from the bowel, breast or elsewhere. That is priced and treated very differently. If that is you, start with the two very different things called liver cancer.

Why liver costs are harder to predict

Most cancers are priced around the tumour. Liver cancer is priced around the tumour and the liver it sits in. A liver scarred by cirrhosis may need hepatology care, fluid drainage or treatment for bleeding veins alongside the cancer, and each of those carries its own cost. Treatments such as TACE are priced per procedure, so the total depends on how many are needed.

A range is not a quote. Ask for a written, itemised estimate before any procedure.

Indicative cost

What each liver cancer treatment usually costs in Hyderabad

These are 2026 Hyderabad estimates for planning, not quotes. Your team will give you a written figure for your own plan.

₹75,000 – ₹2,50,000

TACE, per session

Chemotherapy delivered straight into the tumour's blood supply. Many people need more than one session.

₹50,000 – ₹1,50,000

Radiofrequency ablation

Heat through a needle to destroy a small tumour, often without an open operation.

₹3,00,000 – ₹6,00,000

Liver resection, open

Removing the part of the liver that holds the tumour, through a cut in the abdomen.

₹3,50,000 – ₹7,00,000

Liver resection, laparoscopic

The same operation through small cuts, where the tumour position allows it.

₹80,000 – ₹3,00,000 or more

Systemic therapy, per cycle

Immunotherapy or targeted therapy given through the bloodstream, repeated over many cycles.

₹1,50,000 – ₹3,00,000

SBRT radiation, per course

Precise, high-dose radiation over a small number of visits.

₹3,00,000 – ₹12,00,000 or more

Full multi-step treatment

A plan that combines two or more of the treatments above.

Indicative 2026 Hyderabad estimates only. They leave out scans, biopsy, hepatology care, transplant, TARE (Y-90) and microwave ablation, which are quoted separately. Insurance and government schemes can change what you pay yourself, sometimes completely. Call the helpline for an estimate against your own cover.

What moves the bill

Why do two families pay such different amounts?

Four things decide most of the difference. Your team can tell you which of them apply to you.

The stage when it is found

A small tumour found on a surveillance scan may need one procedure. A larger tumour, or several, usually needs a sequence of treatments.

How well the liver works

A liver weakened by cirrhosis can limit which treatments are safe. It can also add costs of its own: hospital stays for fluid, bleeding or confusion, and regular hepatology review.

Repeated procedures

TACE is often repeated, and each session is billed again. Systemic therapy is billed per cycle and continues while it is working.

Ask about

  • How many sessions are likely
  • Which scans come between them

Transplant

A liver transplant costs far more than anything on this page and is quoted only by licensed transplant centres. Jeevandan, Telangana's deceased-donor programme, changes how a transplant is arranged. Read what a transplant quote includes.

Leave a number, we will call you

One field. No form to fill in, and no charge for the call.

Before you pay

How do I get a written estimate and use a scheme?

Get the plan first

A cost only means something once the tumour board has reviewed your scans and agreed a plan. Bring every report and CD you have. CION arranges any scan that is missing.

Ask for an itemised estimate

Ask for each step on paper: procedure, stay, medicines, scans and follow-up. Ask what is not included, and what happens to the bill if a session has to be repeated.

Check your scheme or policy

Aarogyasri and Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY cover listed procedures for eligible families at empanelled hospitals. CGHS, ECHS and ESI work differently. Rules and lists change, so check them at the time. See whether Aarogyasri covers liver cancer.

Let the team help with paperwork

CION's team helps families collect the reports and letters a scheme or insurer asks for, before treatment starts rather than after.

Who bills for what

Which parts of my care are billed where?

Care at CION centres Arranged through partners
Consultations, second opinions and the tumour board Triple-phase CT, MRI, PET-CT and biopsy
Immunotherapy, targeted therapy and chemotherapy TACE, TARE and ablation at accredited partner hospitals
Supportive care and symptom control Liver resection and SBRT radiation
Follow-up and surveillance planning Hepatology care and liver transplant

Being straight with you

What this page cannot tell you

It cannot tell you what your treatment will cost. That depends on a plan that only your team can make after seeing your scans, your blood tests and how well your liver is working. Two people with the same diagnosis can need very different plans.

It cannot tell you what a scheme will pay

Scheme package lists, eligibility rules and empanelled hospitals change. Insurance policies differ in what they exclude and when. Ask the scheme desk or your insurer directly, with your estimate in hand. This page is general information, not financial or legal advice.

Who these ranges do not apply to

They do not apply to cancer that spread to the liver from another organ, to children with hepatoblastoma, or to anyone considering a transplant. Each of those is priced differently. For the wider picture, read what drives the cost up or down.

If the numbers feel overwhelming, call the helpline before deciding anything. Someone will go through your estimate and cover with you.

Questions we are asked

Common questions about liver cancer costs in Hyderabad

Why can nobody give me one price over the phone?

Because the treatment depends on the stage, the number of tumours and how well your liver works. Those come from your scans and blood tests, not from the diagnosis alone. Once the tumour board has a plan, a written estimate is possible, and it is far more useful than a guess.

Is TACE paid once or every time?

Every time. TACE is billed per session, and many people need more than one, with a scan in between to see how the tumour responded. Ask your team how many sessions are likely and whether the scans between them are included in the estimate.

Does Aarogyasri cover liver cancer treatment?

Aarogyasri covers listed cancer procedures for eligible families at empanelled hospitals. What is listed, and which hospitals are empanelled, changes over time. Check your eligibility and the specific procedure at the time, and ask the hospital doing the procedure whether it accepts the scheme.

Will insurance pay for immunotherapy?

Many policies cover systemic cancer treatment, but some limit newer medicines, day-care treatment or pre-existing liver disease. Read the exclusions page of your policy and ask your insurer for written confirmation before the first cycle. Our team can help you prepare the documents they ask for.

Why does cirrhosis add to the cost?

A scarred liver can cause fluid in the abdomen, bleeding veins in the food pipe and confusion, each needing its own care. It may also rule out cheaper treatments that a healthier liver could tolerate. Hepatology review continues alongside the cancer care, and that is billed separately.

How much does a liver transplant cost?

Far more than any other treatment on this page, and only licensed transplant centres can quote it. The figure depends on whether the liver comes from a living or a deceased donor, the stay and the lifelong medicines afterwards. Ask the transplant centre for an itemised quote.

Is a second opinion worth the cost?

Often, yes, when the plan involves major surgery, repeated procedures or a transplant. A second opinion reviews the same scans and reports and checks the plan fits your stage and your liver. It can confirm the plan, or suggest a different route you had not been offered.

Can I reduce the cost without risking my treatment?

Sometimes. Bring old scans so tests are not repeated needlessly, check your scheme before treatment starts, and ask whether quality generic medicines are suitable. Never stop or space out treatment to save money without talking to your oncologist first.

What moves the figure

What affects the cost

Four things change the total more than anything else.

The technique used

A shaped or image-guided delivery costs more than a conventional one, and is chosen on clinical grounds rather than preference.

How many sessions

The total is driven by the number of sittings or cycles, not by a single per-visit figure.

Supporting tests

Scans, blood work and pathology done alongside treatment are billed separately.

Your cover

Aarogyasri, CGHS, ECHS, EHS or cashless insurance usually change the out-of-pocket figure substantially.

Paying for it

Insurance, schemes and payment

What you actually pay usually differs a great deal from the sticker figure.
